A Salute to Real Dads: Beards, Burdens, and Backbone!
Let’s get one thing straight: there are dads, and then there are dudes with a diaper bag. One comes built for the job, forged by fire, responsibility, and the instinct to protect. The other might be able to change a diaper with flair, but still insists on being called “Mom.” This Father’s Day, we raise our mugs—not soy lattes, but the kind of mugs that hold black coffee or cold diesel—to the real men. The irreplaceable ones. The dads who haven’t forgotten who they are.
Cheers!
Being a father is no joke. But sometimes, you have to laugh—because if you don’t, you’ll cry trying to fix a leaky faucet at midnight after a 12-hour shift while a toddler yells, “Daddy, I flushed my dinosaur!” And still, you do it. Because that’s what dads do.
Let’s be clear: no one else can fill your shoes. Not a government, not a social media influencer, and definitely not someone in lipstick calling themselves a “birthing person.” No offense, but the only thing most dads birth is a loud grunt while moving furniture or getting off the couch after leg day. And that’s perfectly fine—because being a dad isn’t about biology in a lab or trendy labels. It’s about responsibility, sacrifice, and strength.
You’re not obsolete. You’re not toxic. You’re essential.
Our world is spinning sideways, trying to convince men that masculinity is a problem to fix instead of a foundation to build on. But this Father’s Day, we celebrate the quiet, unwavering strength of the man who gets up before the sun to provide. Who disciplines out of love, not anger. Who holds the line when chaos knocks. He’s not flashy. He’s not fashionable. But he is faithful.
He doesn’t need applause. But he deserves it.
You may not have a million followers, but you’ve got a few pairs of little feet behind you watching your every step. You may not get headlines, but you get the head nod from other real men who see you leading, loving, and protecting without needing a spotlight. That silent salute across the parking lot? That’s more sincere than any “influencer appreciation post.”
Let’s also remember, real dads are funny. Not always on purpose, but still. Dad jokes? They’re a survival mechanism. We weaponize puns, eye-rolls, and awkward dance moves to embarrass our kids into character. And it works. Humor is part of the job description—because if you’re not laughing, you’re probably knee-deep in Legos barefoot.
This isn’t just nostalgia for some 1950s sitcom version of manhood. This is a battle cry for men to rise. To stay grounded when the world wants you neutered. To keep swinging hammers, turning wrenches, coaching teams, holding babies, and keeping promises. To lead your homes not like tyrants, but like kings who serve.
Being a father doesn’t require perfection. It requires presence. A real man doesn’t abandon his post when things get hard—he digs in. He doesn’t make excuses—he makes a way. He doesn’t try to be everything—he tries to be enough. And nine times out of ten, he is.
So this Father’s Day, we honor you. The man who shows up. Who says “no” when it’s easier to say “yes.” Who provides when it hurts. Who stays when others walk away. Who protects even when no one sees the danger.
You, sir, are the backbone of the family, the load-bearer, the rock in the storm. And no matter how many hashtags try to erase you, we see you. We thank you. And we need you.
And if anyone tries to say otherwise? Tell them to take it up with your tool belt.
Happy Father’s Day to the men who are still men in 2025!
As an aside, because I know my husband will read this - and he’s my biggest fan.
I love you Jimmy. I love your strength, humor, and thirst for life. There is NEVER a dull moment because you are in our lives. Our kids are so lucky to have you as their father. You get up at 3:30 - 4 am 6 days a week, work hard laborious construction, manage a business, and still come home (after a Papa Bear nap) ready for the spontaneous fishing adventure or to play catch in the yard! Archery, hunting, sports, fishing, snuggles on the couch while you watch the Waltons - you are unique and passionate and perfect for US!
Best of all, you know your paternal role is as important as my maternal one and we make the best team for our family.
My never-ending love,
Britt
